Scott & Kaylah

Kaylah and I met right before the start of our freshman year at cross-country practice. She was everything I had ever hoped for in a girl; she loved God and she loved others. Because we were at different schools, the only time I saw her was at practice, so running quickly became the favorite part of my days. Once sophomore year came along, I finally had an opportunity to ask her to homecoming. I mustered up the courage and convinced the whole guys cross-country team to paint out letters to spell homecoming on our backs and run by her at practice. It worked, and our first dance turned out to be a blast and lead to us dating and attending every other high school dance together.

Our relationship grew stronger as we pursued Christ together in high school through graduation. For college, Kaylah decided on nursing school in California, and I stayed at Colorado State. We broke up our freshman year and didn’t talk much until Christmas of our junior year. After extensive prayer and long conversations, we got back together on January 1st 2013 and have been stronger ever since. The distance was still extremely hard but helped us to keep our focus on Jesus and develop better communication skills along the way. We got engaged on July 4th, 2013 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado at the top of Mount Werner. Kaylah was completely surprised and I was totally thrilled. We made it through a year long engagement most of which was across the country, and some across the world, and on June 6th 2014, my best friend became my wife. It was the best day of our lives, but we believe the best is yet to come!
